• HISTORY •

At the Height of Florida's early land boom Joseph Young opened the
Hollywood Beach Hotel in 1926 as the crown of his new city Hollywood by
the Sea. The resort was designed in the Mediterranean Revival style
popularized by Addison Mizner, the famed society architect of Palm Beach
and George Merrick, the founder of Coral Gables and its famed Biltmore
Hotel.
Young envisioned a Royal Palm lined avenue leading over the Intercoastal
Waterway as an entrance to his beachfront resort.
The Hollywood Beach Hotel enjoyed instant celebrity status as one of the
great resorts of its period. Its reputation as a stylish winter
playground spread quickly among American tourists visiting Florida in
the late 1920's, as it continues to attract international and domestic
tourists to this day.
In the late 1940's the Hotel was remodeled in the Art Deco style popular
on Miami Beach at the time. The 1950's brought a new wave of expansion
to Hollywood Beach as the area grew. Shops and Restaurants opened along
Hollywood's beautiful new Broadwalk.
In 1987 the entire resort was renovated and renamed the Hollywood Beach
Resort. In 2002 the Hollywood Beach Resort brought in the Ramada name, a
member of Wyndham Worldwide and continues to enjoy the fame and
popularity that Wyndham Worldwide brings to the traveling public.
